Getting Started

What is Franklin AI?
Franklin AI is your personal AI-powered financial assistant. Franklin helps you understand your finances, answer questions about your spending, create budgets, and make informed financial decisions. By securely connecting your bank accounts, Franklin can provide personalized insights based on your actual financial data.
How do I get started with Franklin?
  1. Sign up using Google, Apple, or email (magic link)
  2. Complete the brief onboarding process
  3. Connect your bank accounts securely through Plaid
  4. Start chatting with Franklin about your finances!
You can start asking questions immediately, even before connecting your bank accounts.
What can I ask Franklin?
Franklin can help you with:
  • Understanding your spending patterns
  • Creating and tracking budgets
  • Analyzing specific transactions
  • Financial planning and goal setting
  • General financial advice and education
  • Monthly spending summaries and insights

Simply ask in natural language, like "How much did I spend on groceries last month?" or "Help me create a budget."

Account & Security

Is my financial data secure?

Absolutely. Your security is our top priority:

  • Bank connections use industry-standard Plaid security
  • All data is encrypted in transit and at rest
  • We use bank-level 256-bit encryption
  • We never store your bank login credentials
  • We never sell or share your personal data
  • Read-only access to your accounts (we cannot move money)

How do I sign in without a password?
Franklin uses passwordless authentication for better security:
  • Magic Link: Enter your email and we'll send you a secure login link
  • Google Sign-In: Use your existing Google account
  • Apple Sign-In: Use your Apple ID for quick access

This eliminates the need to remember passwords and provides enhanced security through your email or existing accounts.

How do I delete my account?
You can delete your account at any time:
  1. Go to Settings (gear icon in the top navigation)
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page
  3. Click "Delete Account"
  4. Confirm the deletion

Note: This action is permanent and will delete all your data, chat history, and bank connections.

Bank Connections

How do I connect my bank accounts?
Connecting your bank is easy and secure:
  1. Go to Settings (gear icon)
  2. Click "Connect Financial Account"
  3. Search for your bank in the Plaid modal
  4. Enter your bank credentials (securely handled by Plaid)
  5. Select which accounts to connect

Franklin uses Plaid, a trusted financial technology company that connects to over 12,000 financial institutions.

Which banks are supported?
Franklin supports over 12,000 financial institutions through Plaid, including:
  • Major banks (Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Citi, etc.)
  • Credit unions
  • Online banks (Ally, Marcus, Discover, etc.)
  • Investment accounts (Fidelity, Vanguard, etc.)
  • Credit card accounts

If your bank isn't supported, you can still use Franklin for general financial advice and manual tracking.

Can I disconnect my bank accounts?
Yes, you have full control over your bank connections:
  1. Go to Settings
  2. Scroll to "Disconnect All Bank Accounts"
  3. Click the button and confirm

This will remove all bank connections but won't delete your account or chat history. You can reconnect at any time.

Can Franklin move money or make transactions?
No. Franklin has read-only access to your accounts. We can see your transactions and balances to provide insights, but we cannot:
  • Transfer money
  • Make purchases
  • Change account settings
  • Access your login credentials

Your money stays safe in your bank accounts under your control.

Subscription & Billing

How much does Franklin cost?
Franklin offers flexible pricing options to fit your needs. Visit the Settings page to view current subscription plans and pricing. We accept all major credit cards through our secure payment processor, Stripe.
How do I cancel my subscription?
You can cancel your subscription anytime:
  1. Go to Settings
  2. Find the "Subscription Management" section
  3. Click "Manage Subscription"
  4. Follow the prompts to cancel

You'll retain access until the end of your current billing period. No refunds for partial months.

Is my payment information secure?
Yes. We use Stripe, a PCI-compliant payment processor trusted by millions of businesses. Franklin never stores your credit card information on our servers. All payment data is handled securely by Stripe.

Supported payment methods:

  • Credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover)
  • Apple Pay
  • Google Pay

Technical & Mobile

Is Franklin available on mobile?
Yes! Franklin AI is available on:
  • iOS: Download from the Apple App Store
  • Android: Download from Google Play Store
  • Web: Access from any browser at meetfranklin.ai

Your data syncs across all devices, so you can start on mobile and continue on desktop.

How do I change the theme (dark/light mode)?
Franklin offers both light and dark themes:
  1. Go to Settings
  2. Find the "Theme" section
  3. Toggle the switch to change between light and dark mode

Your preference is saved and will apply across all your sessions.

Does Franklin work offline?
Franklin requires an internet connection to:
  • Send messages and get AI responses
  • Sync your bank data
  • Update your chat history across devices

However, you can view your recent chat history while offline. Any messages sent offline will be delivered once you reconnect to the internet.
